What is the Hudson Public Library Foundation?

The Hudson Public Library Foundation was established and incorporated as a non-profit 501 (c ) 3 agency in 2005 to ensure the provision of continued excellence in community library service to the people of Hudson and the surrounding areas. Its goal is to assure possible donors that any gifts intended for the Hudson Library will be both tax deductible and solely dedicated to assisting the library in its continued growth as it meets the informational and cultural needs of library users.

The foundation is coordinated by a group of volunteers dedicated to the responsible stewardship of financial gifts, bequests, contributions and gifts-in-kind offered to ensure the long-term future of the Hudson Public Library. Gifts to the Foundation are not designed to replace or supplant city funding; rather, they are designed to enhance the basic library services that are funded through public tax dollars.

How can you help the Hudson Public Library Foundation?

There are several ways in which you can help Hudson have the best possible public library for both present and future generations.

Unrestricted Gifts are the most desirable forms of monetary donations. These gifts can be used for various purposes and will be allocated to the area evidencing the greatest need.

Honorary and Memorial Gifts – These honor friend and loved ones while strengthening the library’s collections and services. All honorary and memorial gifts will be considered as unrestricted gifts unless specified otherwise.

Planned Giving – Honor the library with a gift of marketable stock or securities, in your will with a bequest, trust, or property as a means of benefiting the entire community as well as your personal tax position.

Designated Gifts – These gifts can be specified for named purposes, including: standard operations; capital outlay; library collections; and programming.

Endowment Fund – Pool with other gifts to build the Library Foundation’s Endowment Fund. As this fund grows, interest from it will be used to enhance the library’s collections and services today and into the future.

Gifts of any amount are appreciated and will be acknowledged with a letter of thanks that may be used for tax deduction purposes. Please make checks payable to Hudson Public Library Foundation.
